Back To School; or Home School?

Despite tax increases, and providing every form of local support, the Del Norte County Unified School District (DNCUSD) is a disaster. No amount of money can compensate for one of the worst curricula and teaching philosophies in the Nation.

I am not making this accusation lightly; nor without evidence. According to the School Rating website School Digger, the Del Norte County Unified School District ranks 655th out of 826 Districts in the State of California. Out of a maximum of five stars, School Digger gave the Del Norte County Unified School District a ONE STAR RATING!

During the 2018-2019 School Year, the California Department of Education determined that 64.02% of our local kids FAILED to meet minimum standards in English Language Arts. For Mathematics, 74.52% of local children FAILED to meet minimum standards!

What makes these scores even more abysmal are the lax standards set by the State of California itself. According the National Assessment for Educational Progress, California’s student scores hover near the rock bottom of all educational systems in the United States; ranking 44th out of 50.

I will preface the following by stating that I am not a parent. If I were, I would consider it an act of child cruelty to allow any child to attend the Del Norte County Unified School District. Beyond that caveat, I am a homeowner in Del Norte County. Schools have a major impact on real estate values, home equity, and the overall financial health of the entire community. Most families with intelligence, skill and subsequent wealth who have school aged children demand a quality education. Such people avoid settling in an area with bad schools. That is my stake in this criticism of the DNCUSD.

I do not believe that the mass of our local children are educationally handicapped by physical impairment. The FAILURE of our local schools rests both with the negligence of parents and the gross incompetence of our School System.

We can continue to throw money at this educational catastrophe, or we can seek reform. Both the National Association of Educators and California Teachers Association have endorsed curricula that emphasize exposure and indoctrination of children in Marxist ideology, Critical Race Theory, and the LGBTQ agenda. The religion of excuses, envy and blame has been conveniently merged with doctrines of racist white privilige persecution, entitlement, and sexual gender empowerment for K-12 children. Reading, writing and mathematics are skills that obviously no longer merit a prominent priority in our “Schools.”

In California, incompetent teachers and administrators cannot be dismissed. We are stuck with them til they either retire, are imprisoned, hospitalized for nervous breakdown, institutionalized for insanity, overdose on drugs, or die of natural causes. Your children are destined to sit vacuously on bridges playing “Dueling Banjos” as visitors canoe in the rivers below. That is not a mandate from Heaven, but from our School District’s higher-power in Sacramento.

For our average fornication-crazy, baby-making, brain-dead, drunk, drug-addicted alumni from our local schools; the Del Norte County Unified School District is pig heaven. It provides baby-sitting services for their unwanted children so they can spend their days gambling, hunting drugs and engaging in promiscuous sex. California Social Services provides the mandated dollars per child to finance their lifestyle, and they can always seek remote residential drug rehabilitation when they want an extended vacation from the kids.

There are also working parents who unfortunately have been held hostage by our failed educational system. They simply NEED babysitting services while they are at work. Public schools provide that service free. There may be no answer til new private or charter schools are formed.

Our local California Schools are now exclusively offering online education. This is a golden opportunity to offer children a ticket out of the failed Del Norte County Unified School District and illiterate poverty. There are other options for online education through Home Schooling that emphasize reading, writing and mathematics. These providers do not stress Marxist indoctrination, nor do they encourage preschool children to choose their own gender.

For in-person instruction, some industrious parents within religious or fraternal groups might want to band together to form private schools. The very few teachers out there who are classically educated might want to form their own private preparatory academies; or finishing schools. If enough parents migrate their children away from the failed Del Norte school system, the present facilities might become available for lease or purchase to a fully functioning privatized system.

My greatest fear is that the Del Norte Unified School District will use their poor performance to appeal for more tax funding. The illiterate and mathematically challenged alumni always seem to heed the call. If your pet Spaniel BooBoo takes a dump on the carpet; “bad dog,” pat it on the head and give it a biscuit.

Money is not the answer!

Let’s make an intelligent decision for the children of Del Norte County this year. If you are forced to Home School your child with local school instruction, consider finding a quality Home School provider instead. Here are some online links for those considering a shift to quality Home Schooling:
